Hey everyone, it’s me again 😂😂😂. I have been getting some messages asking why there weren’t any indie games company on my 15 GAMES OF 2018 TO LOOKOUT FOR.
So this list is my list alone for indie games coming out 2018 that I think will be awesome.
What are indie games
For people who are new to the game scene or don’t know about indie games this are independent games developed during the game development process. Its usually made by an individual or a small team of developers and normally without significant financial support of a video game publisher.
And I think they are one of the rockstars of gaming, working to bring an idea they have into reality. Am starting to get distracted again this is a countdown of cool indie games of 2018. This is a link if you want to know more about indie games;
6 Indie games of 2018
- The Last Night
This is a 2.5D cinematic platform game being developed by Odd Tales and will be published by Raw Fury. Its a game that as been in the making for a long time now, that I have been really anticipating. The original draft was made in 6 days by two brothers : Tim & Adrien Soret for Cyberpunkjam, which they won and this is the original draft;
It will be released on microsoft windows, macOS, Linux and xbox one.The player controls Charlie, a person living a lower-class existence in a society that is living in an era of leisure and a futuristic world, where computers and machinery have taken over all menial work.
You can explore the city, talk freely with the NPCS, get involved in gunfights and has stealth elements. Its reminds me of a mix of GTA and Assassin’s Creed
Ooblet is a really cool looking game that I think anyone who loves cute characters and a colourful world will love. Its a life simulation game with farming, town life and creature collecting game, that’s inspired by Pokémon, Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. You will manage your farm, grow and train ooblets, run a shop, explore strange lands, battle wild ooblets and other ooblet trainers and trying to unlock the secrets and mysteries of Oob.
I really think this is a game that will go far and will see a lot of adaptations, becoming as big or even bigger than pokemon. Its Developed by Rebecca Cordingley and Ben Wasser. Its a single player video game.
And if you would like to donate to help with the game development, here is the link ;
- Super Meat Boy Forever
Super Meat Boy is back, it’s developed by Team Meat. It was first planned to be released on mobile platform only, but now it will be on Nintendo Switch, playstation 4, xbox one, iOS, Android and PC.
It features a new control scheme and randomly generated levels(meaning each play through is different for you and everyone). Unlike the first game, Forever is an autorunner, meaning you are always running foward. The control scheme consists of two buttons, according to Team meat with only two buttons there is a surprising amount of movement and precision in the game, allowing Meat Boy and Bandage Girl to jump, slide, dive and even kick or punch your enemies (meaning you can fight back now). It will according to Team Meat have 6 chapters, daily challenges and new ranking system
Its an action role playing game developed by Lab Zero Games and published by 505 Games. It will be released on playstation 4, xbox one, linux, macintosh operating systems, nintendo switch and microsoft windows.
Indivisible will feature Metroidvania-style exploration and combat mechanics that was inspired by Valkyrie Profile.
The game story follows Ajna, a girl who embarks on a global journey to discover the truth of her mysterious powers(the power to absorb certain individuals into her being and fusing these incarnations, allowing her to summon them in battles, also granting her new weapons and abilities), when warlords attack her village. She will meet other heroes on her journey, who will join her, fighting enemies along the way and gaining new abilities to traverse different environments. Which hooked me, I love games were you go on a journey and as a wonderful story and Indivisible seems to want to deliver.
- Deep Sky Derelicts
Deep Sky Derelicts is developed by Snowhound Games and published by 1C Company.
It’s a combination of RPG, turn based strategy, with tactical card combat and popular roguelike elements. You explore alien ships, fight, loot and upgrade your gear in a retro-futuristic comic book style.
Snowhound games have also described the game as “a mix of Darkest Dungeon and XCOM with a pinch of Hearthstone and FTL”. And it’s on Steam Early Access.
In the game you command a team of three mercenaries who share a common goal: exploring ancient alien spaceships to earn money to retire and live a comfortable life. You will recruit party members, collect and equip gear, acquire ships and fight enemies. The game will have an arena and campaign mode.
The card system adds a fun part to the game, you have to customise a deck of cards which you randomly draw from throughout fights. They determine the actions you can take. Deaths are also permanent, mercenaries and ships are procedurally generated.
- Secret Legend / Tunic
First called Secret Legend is now know as Tunic, it’s developed by Andrew Shouldice and published by Finji. To be released on windows, mac and console. Its a game inspired by Zelda games.
You play as a tiny fox in a big world, you begin with little more than your paws to protect yourself. The ancient ruins around you are filled with all kinds of treasures and useful items, you just have to get them.
It shows that graphics aren’t everything, something I learnt a few years back now. You can quickly become bored of a game with shiny high end graphics, if the game is not solid enough to stand on its own without all the face lifts.☺ Tunics is absolutely stunning: colour filled, beautifully lit and distinctively angular. I still find it hard to believe it’s an indie game, I have really high expectations for this game and can’t wait for its release next year.
